Alderney island, Guernsey Bailiwick: Fort Tourgis and dirt road along Clonque bay - now in ruins, Fort Tourgis was an extensive fortress northwest of Saint Anne. The coastal fort , completed in 1855, was planned to accommodate a garrison of 346 men and was originally the largest of the Victorian-era forts on Alderney. It was also planned to mount 33 heavy cannons in five batteries along with four 13” mortars. The Victorian forts on Alderney were intended to defend the island and its harbor, which was intended to accommodate a British fleet that would counterbalance the naval power of France in the English Channel.

Sliabh Liag, also known as Slieve League, is a mountain located on the Atlantic coast of County Donegal in Ireland. It is famous for having some of the highest sea cliffs in Europe. The Sliabh Liag Walk is a popular hiking trail that takes you along these stunning cliffs, offering breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding landscape.
Most brochs were built in the period from 100 BC to 100 AD. Dun Carloway was probably built in the 1st century AD. Through the centuries Dun Carloway remained in use until the floor level was too high due to build-up of the occupation layers.  It is a remarkably well preserved broch – on the east side parts of the old wall still reach to 9 metres tall.
