Rome, Italy, March 30 -- A solitary night view of Castel Sant'Angelo and Ponte Sant'Angelo. Built around 123 AD as a sepulcher for Emperor Hadrian and his family, the current Castel Sant'Angelo was used as a fortress, prison and refuge by the Popes due his proximity with the Vatican. The construction of the  Arc de Triomphe in  Paris was ordered in 1806 by Napoleon, the French Emperor.  Napoleon wanted to honor the Grande Armee, which had conquered most of Europe and was considered invicible.  After his Austerlitz victory in 1805, Napoleon said to his soldiers :  \

The remains of the temple of Portico D'Ottavia in the heart of the Jewish Quarter (Roman Ghetto), near the archeological area of the Theatre of Marcellus. According to tradition and some archaeological remains of Ancient Rome this area was occupied by a fish market. The iconic Jewish Quarter of Rome, the oldest ghetto in Europe, is famous for the presence of hidden alleys and small squares, where it is easy to find small restaurants of Italian and Jewish cuisine, and remarkable Roman archaeological remains. The ghetto of Rome is located in one of the oldest districts of the Eternal City, located between the Campidoglio (Roman Capitol) and the Tiber river.
