The dawn light illuminates the majestic and splendid Italian-style Gothic lateral facade of the Duomo, in the heart of the medieval city of Siena, in central Italy, while dozens of swallows fly in the sky. The construction of the metropolitan cathedral, dedicated to the Assumption of Mary, was completed between 1215 and 1263, becoming one of the religious architectural masterpieces of the Romanesque and Italian Gothic style. Siena is one of the most beautiful Italian cities of art, in the heart of the Tuscan hills, famous for its immense artistic and historical heritage and for the Palio, where the seventeen old districts of the city compete every year in Piazza del Campo in one of the oldest horse racing in the world. The beautiful facade of the Cathedral or Duomo of Santa Maria Assunta in the historic heart of Pesaro, a town on the Adriatic coast of Italy in the Marche region. Built in the 12th century, the Cathedral of Pesaro stands on a previous temple from the Peleo-Christian era of which some mosaics are preserved. The Romanesque-Gothic style facade is unfinished and has a simple ogival portal. Known as the City of Music and the City of the Bicycle, Pesaro was founded by the Piceni people during the Iron Age, to develop as an important center on the Adriatic Sea under the rule of Ancient Rome and later in the Middle Ages. Pesaro is known and loved in the world of music and opera for being the birthplace of the composer Gioachino Rossini (1792-1868), author of works such as The Barber of Seville, Guillaume Tell and La Gazza Ladra.
