Homol'ovi is a Hopi word which means “Place of the Little Hills.” The name is very appropriate since the area is mostly flat with several buttes and other small mounds. Between approximately 1260 and 1400 CE, the area was occupied by the Ancestral Hopi. Several large villages were established during this period. These villages were part of a larger network of settlements in the region, connected through trade and shared cultural practices. The remains of these villages contain numerous artifacts, including pottery shards, stone tools, and remnants of structures. The Homolovi sites provide important insights into the lives of the Ancestral Hopi, their agricultural practices, and their interactions with neighboring cultures. By the late 14th century, the Homolovi villages were largely abandoned, likely due to environmental changes, resource depletion, or social factors. Homolovi State Park, north of Winslow, Arizona, USA was established in 1986 with the help of the Hopi tribe who considered these lands a part of their ancestral homeland. The park presently serves as a center of archeological research. It is located near the Little Colorado River in a floodplain where the natives farmed their crops. The largest of the park’s pueblos at one time contained an estimated 1,200 - 2,000 rooms. The only remaining structure is the kiva in the oldest section of the pueblo. The kiva was an underground house used for religious purposes. The Hopi people continue to make pilgrimages to the site to renew the ties of their people to the land. Also, the Hopi Tribe is actively involved in the management and interpretation of the park, ensuring that their ancestral heritage is respectfully and accurately represented. Homolovi State Park today is a testament to the enduring legacy of the Ancestral Hopi and their connection to the land. It offers a unique opportunity to explore and learn about the ancient cultures that once thrived in the region.

It's hard to describe a photo. As every single photo is journey a dream a thought and a whole new process. I always dreamed of having a NatGeo style photography sans artificial adulteration and too much of professional touch. Rather I would let the subject speak and express while I will melt my art of photography with elements of nature.\nWith such motive and theme I completed my Desert Photography Expedition. I choose desert of Khuri, Rajasthan as its more remote and much virgin. Started my day at 5AM. Only way to reach was by a camel cart. I shot what I saw. And what I saw was truly an amazing burst of colour in Golden Hour. When I looked at the snap on my laptop I burst into tear of joy. It's unbelievable how much spectrum , depth and art nature have. \nI thank you all for read and likes.
