The flag of Greenland, also known as Erfalasorput (“our flag”), was officially adopted on June 21, 1985.\n\nIt is the only national flag in a Nordic country that does not contain a cross motif. Its design, created by Greenlandic artist Thue Christiansen, reflects both the nature and culture of Greenland.\n\nThe flag consists of two horizontal stripes: the upper stripe is white and the lower stripe is red. On the left is a circular symbol that is half white and half red, with the white half at the top and the red half at the bottom. The design can be interpreted as an abstract representation of sun and ice.\n\nMeaning of the colors and symbols: Red and white: These colors represent Greenland's close connection to Denmark, whose national colors are also red and white. At the same time, they symbolize the nature of Greenland: the white stands for the ice and snow, while the red stands for the sea, which plays a central role in the life and culture of Greenland. The circular symbol: This symbolizes the sun, which is above the Horizon rises and sets. The upper white half of the circle can be interpreted as the sun on the horizon, while the red half represents the sea. The relationship between ice and sea is of central importance for Greenland, as nature and life are strongly influenced by these elements.\n\nThe flag emphasizes Greenland's independence and national identity while respecting its connection to the Kingdom of Denmark.

Traditional windmill and dutch flag in Zaanse Schans in the Netherlands, dutch flag with windmills in the Netherlands, ancient wooden windmills in Zaanse Schans, most popular tourist attraction in the Netherlands, dutch national flag\n\nZaanse Schans is a neighbourhood of Zaandam, near Zaandijk, Netherlands. It is best known for its collection of windmills and wooden houses that were relocated here from the wider region north of Amsterdam for preservation. From 1961 to 1974, old buildings from all over the region known as the Zaanstreek were relocated using lowboy trailers to the Zaanse Schans. Two of the windmills in the Zaanse Schans are preserved in their original site where they were first constructed, and therefore don't make up part of the relocated structures. The Zaans Museum, established in 1994, near the first Zaanse Schans windmill, is located south of the neighbourhood. This architectural reserve for Zaanse timber construction is a protected village scene because of its architectural-historical and landscape value. It developed into an international tourist destination with several million visitors every year: in 2016, there were 1.8 million, in 2017 – 2.2 million.
