Matthiola incana, or commonly called Stock, is large, showy richly fragrant flower spikes, which come in a fine mixture of colors including red, pink, purple, lavender, blue and white.\nThe name of matthiola incana also includes Brompton stock, Garden stock, Night-scented stock, Ten weeks stock, Evening-scented stock and Gilly flower.

Medium to tall stout hairless perennial forming large clumps; stem thick. Leaves fleshy, undulate and pinnately lobed, waxy. Flowers white, 10-15mm, in broad billowy panicles. fruit 8-14mm, 2-parted, the upper segment globose.\nHabitat: Costal places, shingle and sandy beaches, sea cliffs.\nFlowering Season: June-August.\nDistribution: Atlantic and Baltic Coast of Europe, including Britain and Ireland.\n\nOften growing where there is a rich accumulation of seaweed humus. The young shoots used to be blanched and eaten as a vegetable.\n\nThis Picture is made on the IJsselmeer Coast, Noordoostpolder (The Netherlands).\nThe Species is not common along our Coasts.

Euphorbia milii (crown of thorns, Christ plant, Christ thorn) is a species of flowering plant in the spurge family Euphorbiaciae, native to Madagascar.
Madder flowers. Rubiaceae perennial vine plants. The roots are rose madder, which is a raw material for plant dyeing and is also used for medicinal herbs.

Robust tall, almost hairless perennial, to 2m; stems hollow, ridged, generally winged with purple. Leaves 2-3 pinnate, with oblong, sharply toothed segments; upper leaves reduced to large inflated sheaths and partially enclosing the developing umbels. Flowers white or pinkish, 2mm, in umbels 3-15cm across, with numerous rays; bracts few and soon falling, or absent. Fruit oval, (with 3 outstanding ridges) 4-5mm, with membranous wings.
