The Sanctuary of Zeus Polieus on the Acropolis was an ancient Greek religious site dedicated to Zeus, the patron god of Athens. Zeus Polieus was worshipped as the protector of the city, and the sanctuary was located on the north side of the Acropolis. It was built around the 5th century BC and was used mainly for ceremonies and festivals for the Athenian citizens. The sanctuary contained a statue of Zeus and an altar, and was an important place symbolizing the faith of the Athenian citizens and the prosperity of the city.
