Tot 30-39mm, Ab 25-32mm, HW 19-23mm.\nOur most delicate Lestes, which is normally easily separated by its statue and coloration, although some Iberian populations recall L. barbarous.\nHabitat: A wide variety of seasonally dry shallow and reedy waters in the south, becoming more critical in the north-west, where it is most abundant in heath and bog lakes with peat moss (Sphagnum) and rushes (Juncus).\nFlight Season: Northern populations mostly emerge in July, flying into November.\nDistribution: Widespread in Europe, although seldom the dominant Lestes species. Distribution recall L. barbarous, and also tends to wander like that species, though rarely in similarly great numbers.\n\nThis Species is to be seen in the describe Habitats, but not as common as L. sponsa in the Netherlands.

However, it is sleeker, paler and more contrasting. Named for the contrasting white appendages of both sexes.\nBehavior:\nLike O. cancellatum, male often sits on open ground near the water, making very fast, low flights over the water.\nOccurrence:\nDistribution is patchy, but the species is generally not uncommon, stretching to China and Japan.\nHabitat: Open Ponds and Lakes.\nFlight Season: From the end of May to mid-September.\n\nThis nice Skimmer is photographed during a Vacation in France in May 1990.
