Primula Julian is hybrid of primula polyantha and primula juliae. This popular species in Japan was introduced by repeated crossing of these two species. This wild species of clematis (Clematis vitalba) has common names that include old man's beard and traveller's joy. Its rambling vines carry long-haired seeds that become prominent in late autumn, as hedgerows grow bare. The individual flowers, shown here, are small and white. This is a close-up photograph.
