$I visited Death Valley in Slovakia. Those who were there may have felt its atmosphere. For me, it was a mix of feelings from pity and fear, through pride, to humility. It fell there in 1944\n 11,000 men and women on both sides, LONELY away from home and their families.\nI chose the Russian aircraft Lisunov Li-2T (D-30) for my night photo. It stands ALONE in the forest, in Vysny Komarnik, and it accurately describes my feelings about these places.\nThis plane served in the 1st aviation regiment, and later after its last flight in 1967, it was set up as a confectionery.$

It was built in 1825-1849 by design of architect Hans Linstow. The equestrian statue of Karl XIV Johan by the Norwegian sculptor Brynjulf Bergslien was unveiled on September 7, 1875.
