The fruit of Camellia japonica grow in the summer months, eventually turning purple red in the fall and opening in winter. The oil derived from the seeds of its fruits is used as multipurpose products such as food, hair and skin treatment as well as a machine oil.\nCamellia japonica, commonly called Japanese camellia, is an evergreen shrub that typically grows to 2-4m tall with glossy, dark green leaves. It is native to Japan and China. Species plants have single flowers, but there are also cultivars with semi-double or double flowers. Each single flower has 5-8 petals. Flower colors are most commonly white, pink or red with yellow anthers.
