Black-bellied Whistling Ducks (Dendrocygna autumnalis) in a small pond on Cabo Corrientes, south of Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico.  This colorful duck ranges from southeast United States though Mexico and Central America and much of South America.  It mainly feeds in agricultural fields during the night and rests in large flocks around bodies of water in the daytime.
The face and foreneck are light, the crown and hind neck are pale brown and the brown feathers of the upper back are edged buff. The breast is pale chestnut, finely barred in black.

The West Indian Whistling Ducks (Dendrocygna arborea) breed in the Caribbean. Today, it is classified as a vulnerable species.
