Grimm Brothers - Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm - famous literary national monument in Germany, designed and built by the sculptor Syrius Eberle. The bronze statue was erected 1896 and is situated on the marketplace in front of the town hall in Hanau city. The Grimm Brothers were among the first and best-known collectors of folk tales.

The Daguerre Memorial (1890) was created in memory of Louis Daguerre and to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of photography.  \n\nThe sculptor was Scott Hartley  (1845-1912.) Hartley used bronze and granite to execute this work of art. \n\nDaguerre’s invention of the daguerreotype method of photographic printing places him uppermost in the pantheon of the founders of the art and craft of photography. \n\nThe 11-foot-tall memorial is now located outside the National Portrait Gallery in Washington DC.

The impressive sculpture symbolizes the unification of Geneva with Switzerland in 1814.\nTwo women in bronze attire – the Republic of Geneva and Helvetias – holding each other entwined at the waist. Perched on their pedestal, they look north towards Switzerland.\n\nThe National Monument is located in the Jardin Anglais, facing the lake. It was inaugurated in 1869. The Pasteur Institute (Institut Pasteur) is a French non-profit private foundation dedicated to the study of biology, micro-organisms, diseases, and vaccines. It is named after Louis Pasteur, who made some of the greatest breakthroughs in modern medicine at the time, including pasteurization and vaccines for anthrax and rabies. The institute was founded in 1887. For over a century, the Institut Pasteur has been at the forefront of the battle against infectious disease. Since 2020, the Pasteur Institute has been working on research into the vaccine against the Covid-19 coronavirus.
