Gondar, Ethiopia - August 21, 2010: An Ethiopian family visits Fasilides Castle, founded by Emperor Fasilides and part of the fortress-city of Fasil Ghebbi. In 1979 the complex, once home to Ethiopian emperors, was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Gondar, Ethiopia - January 08, 2023 : Fasil Ghebbi fortress was founded by Emperor Fasilides and was the home of Ethiopian emperors. Its architecture shows diverse influences including Nubian, Indian, Arab, and Baroque characteristics.\nGondar was the capital of Ethiopia for nearly 200 years. Today is a UNESCO world Heritage site.

One of the imperial palaces in the Royal Enclosure (called GEMP in amharic) in Gondar, Northern Ethiopia. Gondar was once the Imperial captital of Ethiopia, founded by Emperor Fasilides in 1635 and up to know the town is an important place and pilgrim destination for the Ethiopian Ordthodox Christs.
LALIBELA, ETHIOPIA - 26 AUGUST 2007 - Pilgrims gather at the top of a rock hewn church to pray on a sunday. Although services are carried out through out Lalibela each day, Sundays turn out the greatest local crowds. Many of these pilgrims have relocated to lalibela due to its religious roots.
