Queen Anne's Lace (Daucus carota) or wild carrot is a common flowering weed in North America introduced from Europe. It is a late summer flowering biennial plant. The umbels are pink before they open, then bright white and rounded when fully open. When the umbrels turn to seed, they contract and detach from the plant. The wild carrot root is edible while young, but quickly becomes too woody to consume. It has also been used as an herbal remedy.
