The monumental statues on the sumptuous facade built in 1732 of the Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano, dedicated to St. John the Evangelist and St. John the Baptist. This Basilica, built on the Celian hill from the 4th century in the early Christian era, is also known as the Cathedral of Rome and is the most important and ancient basilica in the Western world. This basilica is rich in artistic and monumental treasures, such as the magnificent Byzantine mosaics depicting the emperor Constantine that decorate the apse.
