Fort William, United Kingdom - July 20, 2013: Neptune's Staircase lock on the Caledonian Canal, the longest staircase lock in Britain on 20 July 2013 in Fort William, Scotland, UK.

A yacht is a boat that is propelled by sail or power and is used for pleasure cruising, racing, or other purposes. The term generally applies to vessels with a cabin intended for overnight use.

Neptune's Staircase is a staircase lock comprising eight locks on the Caledonian Canal. Built by Thomas Telford between 1803 and 1822, it is the longest staircase lock in Britain. The system was originally hand-powered but has been converted to hydraulic operation.

Views of the elaborate lock system at Fort Augustus, Scotland which is located at the bottom of Loch Ness. Fort Augustus with its flight of 5 locks is one of the most picturesque stops along the canal and a busy village during the cruising season. The lock flight can take about 1-1.5 hours to negotiate.
