Berry red with a mealy exterior, 8-10mm, oval in outline, containing a single Stone fruit.\nHabitat: Woodland, Shrub, Hedgerows, rough grassy Places, Heaths and Moors, Lowland and Upland. \nFlowering Season: May-June.\nDistribution: Throughout Europe, except the extreme North.\n\nThe Species is known as Herbal Medicine.\n\nThis is a second bloom in autumn 2022.$

Spiraea cantoniensis, also called Bridal-wreath Spiraea, Cape May, Double white May, May bush, and Reeve's Spiraea, is a deciduous perennial shrub typically grown as an ornamental plant in gardens. The plant can reach a height of about 2 meters, tends to be twiggy and spreading into a fountain-like form, and displays frothy clusters of white flowers along the terminal of arching branches. The bush blooms in May; hence the common name of May bush.

This hedgerow tree, which is more common in central England, is growing in a small town in central Lancashire. This well focussed image of mature May blossom shows a cluster of delicate pink flowers. The saturated colours of the bud stage soften to this shade of pink as they mature. Its botanical name is Crataegus laevigata.
