Oslo, Norway: Gestapo plaque at Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters - Victoria terrasse building, completed in 1890 - During the occupation of Norway in April 1940, the building was taken over by the German police authorities Sicherheitsdienst (SD) and Sicherheitspolizei (SiPo) which included the Secret State Police (Gestapo) and the Criminal Police (Kripo). It was intended as a headquarters for the leadership of SiPo and Sicherheitsdienst (SD), where Heinrich Fehlis was commander (BdSuSD), but in February 1945 he moved his headquarters to Furulund in west Oslo, while SiPo's commander remained at Victoria Terrace. A special tribunal (or pie powder court) meted out justice for serious crimes at this spot, the last hanging being on 3 February 1820 when busking bagpipe player Duncan Livingstone was convicted of killing his 10-year-old assistant. The justice tree was variously known as the grief tree, gallows tree or just 'the tree'. Livingstone's body was interred beneath Rochester Castle's walls.
