Achillea is a genus of dicotyledonous plants of the Asteraceae family. The name was given by Linnaeus and derives from the belief that Achilles had used these plants during the siege of Troy to treat the incurable wounds of Telephus, on the advice of Venus, having learned their medicinal virtues from Chiron.
