Liberty Cap, a dormant hot spring cone, got its name because of its resemblance to the peaked caps worn during the French Revolution, known as 'liberty caps' or 'Phrygian caps.' This geological feature was named by members of the Washburn-Langford-Doane Expedition of 1870.

This photo shows a well-maintained US Forestry Road sign and road heading into the Challis National Forest in Idaho.  The Salmon-Challis National Forest covers over 4.3 million acres in east-central Idaho. Included within the boundaries of the Forest is 2.3 million acres of the Frank Church- River of No Return Wilderness Area, the largest contiguous wilderness area in the Continental United States.

Silver Gate (The Hoodoos) on Highway 89 in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. These large travertine limestone boulders formed due to an earthquake on nearby Terrace Mountain and are not actually Hoodoos but were incorrectly named so and the name has stuck.
