The Alabama Hills are a range of hills and rock formations near the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada in the Owens Valley, west of Lone Pine in Inyo County, California.

Chuckwallas (Sauromalus ater) are large lizards in the iguana family that live on large boulder slopes and within canyons of the southwest US. These lizards are herbivores and feed on a variety of leafy shrubs. They are often found tucked deep into crevices where they will inflate their bodies to prevent being removed from the crack.
