Bevagna, Italy - July 26, 2023: Historic buildings of Bevagna, Perugia province, Umbria, Italy: the Silvestri square
The church, with its cloister, was built together with the convent of the Hermits of San'Agostino in 1270 and rebuilt a century later together with the cathedral. The bell tower, as mentioned, is mentioned by Leopardi in his poem of the solitary sparrow. The tower represents the highest point of the village of Recanati, where the poet imagines a sparrow, which scrutinizes the slow and monotonous life of the citadel. The poet would like to be exactly like the sparrow, as his species allows him to always live in solitude, without experiencing feelings of happiness or unhappiness, much suffered by Leopardi.

Perugia, Province of Perugia, Umbria, Italy - 24 april 2023: Interior of the Cathedral of Perugia, also known as the cathedral of San Lorenzo - The late Renaissance cloister has a second order of loggia on three sides, wedged into the east wall is a beautiful older puteal. The cloister leads to the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo (Perugia), to the Dominici library and to the doctorate room. In the latter, law and medicine degrees were conferred until the 1800s. To the left of the entrance to the Doctorate hall, a plaque recalls that five conclaves were held in this place from 1216 to 1305, including the one that ended with the election of Celestine V, the hermit pope who refused the pontificate. Of great importance is the Dominici library, set up in the 1600s, a destination for researchers with its 12,000 volumes. The cloister stairs lead to the fifteenth-century loggias of San Lorenzo with three superimposed orders.
