Maidenhead, England - January 20, 2019: this bridge was designed by the great engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel for the Great Western Railway, allowing trains to run to Paddington Station in London (which he also designed). It was completed in 1838, and put into use the following year. The arches remain the widest and flattest ever built in brick anywhere in the world: each span is 128 feet, with a rise of just 24 feet. The arch adjoining the riverbank on the right of this photograph is called The Sounding Arch, as it produces a very impressive echo.
