The magnificent frescoes by Giotto inside the Basilica di San Francesco (Basilica of Saint Francis), in the medieval heart of Assisi, in Umbria. Built in the Italian Gothic style starting from 1228 and completed in 1253, the Basilica preserves the mortal remains of the Saint of the Poor from 1230. In the image, some of the 28 walls frescoed by Giotto between 1292 and 1305, illustrating the life of the Saint of Assisi, from his vocation to death. Over the centuries Assisi and the spirituality of these places have become a world reference point for peace, tolerance and solidarity between all the peoples and different confessions. The Umbria region, considered the green lung of Italy for its wooded mountains, is characterized by a perfect integration between nature and the presence of man, in a context of environmental sustainability and healthy life. In addition to its immense artistic and historical heritage, Umbria is famous for its food and wine production and for the quality of the olive oil produced in these lands. The mosaic on the central tympanum (above the main gate) of the 19th-century Duomo was crafted in Venice in 1886 based on designs by Nicolò Barabino. It shows Christ seated on a throne, flanked by the Virgin Mary and St John the Baptist. It also includes local saints, notably St Reparata and St Zenobius, who serve as patrons of Florence. The lilies in the foreground symbolize Florence while the blue orb in Christ's left hand symbolises the world or the universe.

Florence, İtaly - 08/29/2023.\nFlorence is the capital city of the region of Tuscany in Central Italy. It is also the most populated city in Tuscany, with 360,930 inhabitants in 2023, and 984,991 in its metropolitan area.\nFlorence was a centre of medieval European trade and finance and one of the wealthiest cities of that era. It is considered by many academics to have been the birthplace of the Renaissance, becoming a major artistic, cultural, commercial, political, economic and financial center. During this time, Florence rose to a position of enormous influence in Italy, Europe, and beyond. Its turbulent political history includes periods of rule by the powerful Medici family and numerous religious and republican revolutions. From 1865 to 1871 the city served as the capital of the Kingdom of Italy. The Florentine dialect forms the base of Standard Italian and it became the language of culture throughout Italy due to the prestige of the masterpieces by Dante Alighieri, Petrarch, Giovanni Boccaccio, Niccolò Machiavelli and Francesco Guicciardini.\nThe city attracts millions of tourists each year, and UNESCO declared the Historic Centre of Florence a World Heritage Site in 1982. The city is noted for its culture, Renaissance art and architecture and monuments. The city also contains numerous museums and art galleries, such as the Uffizi Gallery and the Palazzo Pitti, and still exerts an influence in the fields of art, culture and politics. Due to Florence's artistic and architectural heritage, Forbes ranked it as the most beautiful city in the world in 2010.\nFlorence plays an important role in Italian fashion, and is ranked in the top 15 fashion capitals of the world by Global Language Monitor; furthermore, it is a major national economic centre, as well as a tourist and industrial hub.

Rome, Italy - May 12, 2018: The Basilica of the Sacred Heart is located in the Castro Pretorio district, near Termini Station and was built between 1879 and 1887 at the behest of Pope Pius IX who, in 1870, laid the foundation stone of the new building. However, due to the annexation of Rome to the Kingdom of Italy, the work was interrupted; it was only thanks to San Giovanni Bosco that construction could be resumed in 1880 and completed in 1887 by the architect Francesco Vespignani. In this photo, above the side altar dedicated to the baptism of Jesus Christ, detail of the lunette depicting the Heavenly Father.
