They are equipped with powerful machinery to withstand the adverse weather conditions that often prevail in offshore rig areas. Usually these ships have bow thrusters, as shown  by the two 'propeller' markings on the bow of the Gubert Tide - Autonomous Port of Dakar (PAD) with business district towers in the background (BCEAO, Fahd, Azur...)

A three-masted gaff schooner, ‘Trinovante’, moored in Harwich Harbour, Essex. ‘Trinovante’ carries guests who are interested in sailing ships under expert instruction. She was constructed in the early 1980s at Wivenhoe in Essex and is named after one of the ancient tribes of East Anglia who occupied that region. In the background are some of the cranes at Port of Felixstowe in Suffolk, the UK’s largest container port.
