Neotrypaea californiensis (formerly Callianassa californiensis), the Bay ghost shrimp, is a species of ghost shrimp that lives on the Pacific coast of North America. (Doryteuthis opalescens) The Opalescent Squid lays its eggs in the eel grass in the intertidal zone of Vashon Island.    The translucent white egg capsules are usually in elongated clusters attached to sea weeds and eel grass. Each capsule has between 50 -300 eggs.  It can take up to 5 weeks for the young squid to emerge.   These squid range from Alaska to Mexico.
