Rome, Italy, January 26 - The sumptuous monumental facade built in 1732 of the Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano, dedicated to San Giovanni Evangelista and San Giovanni Battista. This Basilica, built on the Celian hill from the 4th century in the early Christian era, is also known as the Cathedral of Rome and is the most important and ancient basilica in the Western world. Inside the apse a series of magnificent Byzantine mosaics depicting the emperor Constantine, while the central nave was designed in the Baroque period by Francesco Borromini.
