All these photographs that were taken on April 19, 2019 make a tour of the historic center, contemplating the Mudéjares Houses, the Houses Coloradas and the Alcazaba (all in the high square). The genocide took place after The Young Turk Revolution involving the years 1914-1923 which impacted the Christian minority Pontic Greeks in Anatolia. The Young Turks wanted to 'Turkify' the Ottoman Empire and so a genocidal campaign took place against non-Turkish minorities. Between 1914-1923, about 353,000 Pontic Greeks were killed and 1.5 million were expelled.
