Rome, Italy, November 25 -- Some ancient medieval buildings built among the Roman ruins along the slopes of the Palatine Hill, along Via dei Cerchi, in the historic center of the Eternal City. The Palatine Hill was a sacred place for the Romans where, according to tradition, the city was founded. The Roman emperors Augustus, Tiberius and Domitian built their immense imperial palaces on this hill. Visited every year by thousands of tourists, the Palatine Hill is part of the Archaeological Park of the Roman Imperial Forum. In 1980 the historic center of Rome was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Image in high definition format.
