This image depicts what an American Infantryman, likely a paratrooper, would be carrying on D-Day. There’s a thick canvas belt, and set of suspenders, the felt padding that can be seen centre right of the image was worn over the shoulders, under the straps to avoid chafing. There’s a camouflaged helmet, and a leather holster with ‘US’ embossed. Some veterans of the Italian military corps of Bersaglieri wearing the uniforms of the First World War (1914/1918) during a military parade, with the traditional plumed hat, the flannel and wool uniforms and the old bicycles with the provisions.
