A UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh in the Chhatarpur district of India near the small town of Khajuraho, the temples are famous for their architectural symbolism and erotic sculptures. The Hindu and Jain temples were built between AD 900 and 1130. At one time, there were about 85 temples, only about 20 temples remain today. The Wat Phra Sri Mahathat in Lop Buri, a large Royal temple in the center of the town. The temple was founded when Lopburi was under control of the Khmer empire from Angkor.  The main prang was built by the Khmer in the Bayon style in the late 12th or early 13th century.
