Snapdragon is a garden plant of the genus Antirrhinum, which is available in many showy colors except blue. It is called snapdragon because the flower resembles the face of a dragon that opens and closes its mouth, while in Japan it is called gold fish flower for the flower’s resemblance to gold fish. It is treated as an annual plant, because it cannot survive summer heat, although it is essentially a perennial plant.

Linaria vulgaris, the common toadflax, yellow toadflax or butter-and-eggs, is a species of flowering plant in the family Plantaginaceae, native to Europe, Siberia and Central Asia.
