In summer, this tree has yellow flowers that produce these 'Chinese lantern' fruits. Its flowers in summer and its leaves in autumn earn the Pride of India (Koelreuteria paniculata) the title of 'Golden Rain Tree'. These trees were transported to the west from the far east in the 18th century. In this photo, the tree has predominantly golden yellow flowers to the left, and ripening green fruits (lanterns) to the right.
It sprouts bronze-pink, has a fresh green color in summer and turns fiery orange in autumn and then turns golden, hence the American name Golden Raintree, yellow, bipinnata, hence, koelreuteria, goldraintree, paniculata, varnish tree

Blooms of a Black Locust Tree, Robinia pseudoacacia, otherwise known as the false acacia, hanging over a bench in a UK park. This North American tree was first known in Europe in the garden of Jean Robin, herbalist to the King of France. Robinia was introduced to Britain in the 1630s, and in a classic work, 'Sylva', published in 1664, it is written that 'They thrive well in His Majesty's new plantation in St. James's Park.' This tree was much promoted by William Cobbett following his visit to the New Country in the 1800s.
