Veterans' Memorial Hall (1856) was was formerly the chapel at Sailor's Snug Harbor, Staten Island, NYC. The restored 19th-century chapel serves as a performance space. Sailors' Snug Harbor was founded as a retirement home for sailors in 1833. The buildings became a cultural center after the sailors' home moved away in 1976.

Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA - February 27, 2024: A bronze statue of Charles Sumner, by sculptor Anne Whitney, is installed in General MacArthur Square in Cambridge, just outside of Harvard Yard and its Johnston Gate. The sculpture of Sumner, a popular local statesman, was commissioned by the Boston Art Committee shortly after his death in 1874. Charles Sumner was an academic lawyer, senator, politician and the head of the anti-slavery forces in Massachusetts. He was also the Radical Republicans leader during the Civil War and Reconstruction.
