I understand that designers of Hilton hotel may not install physical unit numbers on the top right hand or left hand corner of the physical store outlet. How helpful would the store directory be when there is no point of reference in the physical stores layout?
Instead of providing information clutter to the hotel guests. An interactive store directory with a grid map would be more helpful.
Only useful data points i get from the current store directory is the floor level and the store names that are not arranged in alphabetical order.
Which method would be more helpful to the #hotel guest?
Sorting stores by their unit numbers chronologically or sorting the store names alphabetically?
Sorting by Level numbers or by Store categories?
Answer:
>> Sort store by category and further sort store names alphabetically.
How much time are spent on searching for the right location of the store that those minutes could be saved with this observation per visitor over the projected lifespan of this building?
Could the time saved for each visitor be spent on higher priority tasks such as spending more time working on higher priority tasks for work?
What could future designers learn from this observation with reference to my blog post: www.bentsai.com/2013/12/what-is-point-of-displaying.html
