To keep them save they built their treasury which was made from white Parian marble, a building in the type of a Doric Temple with two columns in antis on the facade and with sculpted decoration on the metopes and pediments. On the south side of the treasury, which faced the sacred road the metopes were illustrated the feats of Theseus; on the east side the Amazonomachy; and the north and west sides the labors of Herakles.
