You can imagine my surprise then when he rocked up tonight in a new set of wheels! When I had a crash in my beautiful, beautiful Jaguar I bought a really cheap Rover 820Si until another nice Jag came around. I think I ended up driving it for well over a year as it turned out to be fantastic motor - lovely to drive with absolutely cavernous load carrying abilities. My old man really liked it too, so he took it off my hands and has been driving it ever since. Every year we keep waiting for it to die but it keeps going through MOTs. This time though, the electronics are dying too much, and a heater that can't be turned down with windows that don't open is not a nice combination. So, it seems he's picked up a lovely Freelander with a 2 litre diesel and a manual box. Let's hope it works out well for him. :) My old man changes his cars like countries change their flags.
