This is a fairly ropey shot of Church Street, what used to be the main shopping centre of Liverpool. The nature of shopping streets is that they do change a lot, and certainly there's a lot I wouldn't recognise from this scene if I saw it in the fifties. More interestingly, it's seen huge changes even in my adult life. Time for a memory test, and you're all welcome to confirm or correct me. I think River Island used to be WH Smith, with steps going down just inside the door. Further along...Next...did that used to be C&A? Then in between C&A and Burtons I think was HMV which was on the first floor, next to a Burger King. Up where Primark is...was that Littlewoods? Too much change...
