This of course can only be done by something momentous, and so it was. This is two Avro Lancasters flying in formation. The front one is 'Thumper' the venerable Lanc of the BBMF. The back one is 'Vera', who believe it or not is the 'plane in Canada' referred to when the BBMF Lanc is described as the only flying example left, apart from another plane in Canada. I never thought I'd see the Canadian Lanc, and I sure as shit never thought I'd see it flying, yet here it is. Those crazy Canadians flew it over the Atlantic by way of Iceland to give us a great show at the Southport Air Show. If the efforts with 'Just Jane' continue apace then it's possible that I might just see two Lancs in formation again, but it won't be these two. A wonderful sight, albeit a very ropey, heavily processed photo. Conditions made for terrible photographs today, even though I wasn't shooting in earnest. In fact the shots are so bad I'm wondering if I'm having some camera issues. It was grey and hazy all day, and just as these two rocked up it started raining in earnest. It didn't dull the moment though. :) I've broken my own rule that on days that I see the Reds the Reds shall be my photo of the day!
