I've been meaning for a long time to shoot my bedside lamp, and so here it is. It's a brass oil lamp based on a design from a ship, as it is mounted in twin gimbals to allow for movement. I'd love to say that I use it every night, but an unfortunate accident rendered it pretty ineffective. I managed to break the chimney many years back, and although I managed to source a couple of replacements, they weren't identical. The fit of the chimney to the lamp is really critical, and with this new funnel the centre bulge is the wrong shape and the light output is much lower than it should be. It still produces some light, and makes that lovely distinctive smell, but it's not much use for reading by.
