I was out very early doors this morning for a walk, and for a change of route I ventured down Prescot Road into Old Swan. On the way, I passed this amazing mosaic which someone has had the good sense to keep on show. It's a beautiful piece of work, and really in superb condition. Age-wise, the Toxteth Co-Operative Provident Society was established in 1891, and merged with the City of Liverpool Equitable Cooperative Society to form the Liverpool Cooperative Society in 1915, so this mosaic probably sits somewhere between the two and is sure to be over a hundred years old.
