You try and get the kids out by about one so that the staff can then gather and say their farewells to whichever long serving teacher is making their farewells that year. Whilst often emotional occasions, this year we didn't get floods of tears so much as an actual flood. It was raining hard all afternoon, and then at about two o'clock the heavens really opened. We've got flash floods all over the city, some road closures, and a school canteen about half an inch underwater! This isn't too uncommon for our building which I suspect has probably had minor drainage issues since the day it was built. I guess the clean up starts tomorrow. Back is still very sore, but perhaps a little better than yesterday. I should be fine in a week. Well, today we kicked the kids out for another year as the academic year draws to a close.
