Keywords: bottle rocket bottlerocket lift off! liftoff lucky strike luckystrike project 365 project365 rocket outdoor I'm quite pleased with this one. We had a primary school in today working with the science department making water bottle rockets. You half fill them with water then pump them full of air. When the pressure exceeds the containment level of the rubber bung, the bung drops off and the bottle depressurises and lifts off like...a rocket! The speed needs to be seen to be believed and they are little bastards to photograph. I think this is the first time I've got the full rocket in frame, and it's more by good luck than good judgement. This one went reasonably high, but doesn't hold a candle to that golden time in Anfield when we launched a 19 litre water cooler bottle using an electric compressor. We got it just up to the roof of the four storey tower. :) I'm quite pleased with this one. We had a primary school in today working with the science department making water bottle rockets.
