| Keywords: efc everton fa cup final facupfinal good luck goodluck project 365 project365 indoor I'm not hugely into football, and I'm one of a rare breed who is very happy to see either of our Liverpool based clubs do well, but on derby day I'm a blue. It's always easy to post an observant and well considered piece after the event, so I'm making an effort to upload today's photo well before the match whilst there's still hope and uncertainty. On paper, Everton don't stand much chance against Chelsea, but then on paper Everton should never have reached the final. That's one of the things that makes them great as a club - they're really not afraid of anyone and they're just going to play a game of football. The club motto that you might be able to see in the photo is 'Nil satis nisi optimum' - roughly 'nothing satisfies if not the best'. I like to think of it as 'nothing satisfies but YOUR best', and I think the players have taken that very much to heart. David Moyes has shown what can be done using players that might not have superstar quality but turn up and give absolutely ten tenths all the time, every time. I was pleased to see a pre-final interview with Tim Howard in which he confirmed that any player who turned up with a superstar price tag and an ego to match would very quickly be laughed out the Goodison changing room as that's not what Everton are about. They're about the finest British qualities of integrity, fair play, hard work and even a little bit of self deprecation (who could forget the fan chant "Champions League, we're having a laugh!"). A full strength Chelsea squad, desperate to get some silverware for their manager might be a bridge too far, but Everton are always capable of surprising. I'm hoping for just two things. Firstly, I'd dearly love Everton to score, even if they finish 5-1 down.
