By a co-incidence of timing, my visit to John and family was happening on the same weekend as the Lydden Hill FIA Rally Cross event. It was certainly a nice day for me, as John drove us the two hours to the circuit in Kent, and we enjoyed some VIP hospitality thanks to Peugeot. :) The problem with most live motorsport is that it's rubbish to watch. You follow most of the race on a big screen and get three seconds of cars hooning by every couple of minutes. Not so at Lydden Hill, which is a tiny little circuit where you can see all the cars all the time from pretty much all the vantage points. Along with the very short 'heat' format of the races makes it a very, very accessible watch. Some of the races were great for me, as they were racing in the 'retro' category, with cars from the eighties. Join me in this trip down memory lane as we get, in order, a Mk3 Escort, a Mini, another Mini, a Metro 6R4, Triumph TR8, Vauxhall Nova, Porsche 911, another Mini, a VW Golf and another TR8. Fabulous!
