Gentle, witty and uplifting, it was also a bit fruitier than you get on the radio! I'm normally a more frequent visitor to the Royal Court, so I took a shot of the beautiful ceiling in the Empire, and then reflected on the stories that ceiling could tell if it could talk. Hanging there since 1925, it's seen Tommy Steel, Adam Faith, Bruce Forsyth and Victoria Wood. Also, a few lesser known stars like Sarah Bernhardt, Charlton Heston, Neil Sedaka, The Carpenters, Judy Garland, Kate Bush and a little skinny guy they call Sinatra. A couple of times they also had a local band called The Beatles. That's just a few names. There are many, many more. Tonight though belonged to the Radio 4 team. And they were fab. :) Tonight was a trip to the Empire Theatre to cash in a lovely present from Sue - tickets for the touring production of the Radio 4 show 'I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue'.
