Central School: Opened in 1890 on the south side of West Pender Street between Cambie and Hamilton Streets. Demolished in 1948. Strathcona School No. 1: Lord Strathcona School opened in 1891 at 592 East Pender Street in the East End. Second building added in 1897 (extant). Called East School until 1900. School No. 1 since demolished. Kitsilano School: Built 1907 on the north side of West 4th Avenue between Vine and Yew Streets. Called Seaview and used as an annex by the Fairview High School of Commerce from the mid-1930s. Used to provide crash matriculation courses for World War II veterans, 1945-47.
