Note that although the card is of Paris, the postmark shows this was sent after Margaret arrived in Berques, on the coast. As far as I can tell (corrections and additions welcome) this reads: "A hard days work at last just done & back in our billet. Sister & I in room over a small station. {??] very nice people & most anxious to do all they can & we can sit in room at back of shop with fire they in kitchen so Todd[?] joins us & we are as comfortable as possible. I gave wrong address agian should not address hospital which is call[ed] St Union but just headquarters - St Winse*, Rue de College, Bergues if we get settled will give lodging ad[dress] but place so small may have to stay here. Mar" * I suspect this is St Winoc - see www.stwinoc.fr/ It's interesting to note after several weeks in France this appears to be the first sense that Margaret has found 'proper' work and is likely to stay.
