Two weeks ago, police were investigating after dozens of car tires had been slashed throughout the city. Police now say cars have been stolen and people's homes have been targeted. Police said within the past week, eleven streets across the city were targeted. “We have some windows reported broken by BB guns, others reported rocks being thrown into windows, a couple more tire slashings,” Det. Lt. Kurt Conroy with the Amsterdam Police Department said. “We had a bad rash of tire slashings a couple weeks ago. Thirty-two cars had tires slashed. We got a couple more of those reportings within the past couple of days.” Police said Forbes Street, John Street, Arnold Avenue, Locust Street and Church Street had reports of rocks thrown at the windows. Pulaski Street, Locust Street, Clizbe Avenue, McCleary Avenue had reports of BB guns shattering windows. Police also said three cars that were parked on three different streets were stolen from outside the owner's home. Police recovered the vehicles two days later, but one was found crashed into a tree, abandoned and totaled. The cars were stolen from Second Avenue, Princeton Street and Kimball Street, according to police.
